Content Creation Powered by AI
Artificial Intelligence: your BFF
While I was preparing for a workshop at the fantastic coworking space, Suite Spotte, I needed to create content for several clients: from blog posts to videos, social media posts to podcasts. These content pieces are critical to successfully market in a digital world.
Content creation is a difficult process for us analog mortals. It takes time and resources to create the content that your company requires. However, if you have to do everything yourself, it can be time-consuming and costly. If you want to automate the process and make it easier on yourself, there are some fantastic options on the market that use AI technology to help you do it faster and better.
What is content creation?
Content creation is the process of generating content for the purpose of sharing on social media or blogs. This allows for search engines like Google to index the pages for discovery. The ultimate business goal is to generate awareness for your products and/or services. Content creation tools can be used to automate this process, but they require some time and effort from you as well.
AI-powered content creation tools allow you to create high quality content at scale without having to spend hours working on it yourself. These tools are designed to help you generate the kind of content that people will want to engage with and share. This is important because it means that your message will reach a wider audience, which can expand your brand awareness and increase sales.
What’s old is new again.
AI-powered content creation is not a new thing. It's been around for a while, but the amount of press coverage has exponentially increased. As it evolves, the technology has become more readily available, and the output has become better.
The idea behind AI-powered content creation is that software can create original and engaging content that humans would have difficulty creating on their own (if at all). This isn't necessarily because of any innate superiority in machine intelligence over human intelligence; rather, it's because machines are able to perform tasks more efficiently than humans thanks to their ability to crunch data quickly and accurately without getting tired or losing focus after hours spent staring at screens. Apply Moore's law to the computing power, and that means things can only get better.
How does it work?
Using machine learning and natural language processing (NLP), AI creates content by analyzing data across the internet and learning from it. Once the machine has learned how to produce a certain type of content, it can create new pieces without human involvement, which is why we're seeing it pop up everywhere from news articles to movie reviews and even basketball game previews (with mixed results)! This means that AI is ideal for tasks like writing articles about business or finance news that need to be updated frequently as new information comes in.
Images, not only text!
AI can also be used for visual content. For example, AI can be trained to create images that look like paintings or drawings by analyzing a large collection of existing artworks and using this data to create new pieces. In the case of visual content, AI is trained on how humans create images before it creates its own.
Visual content creation is not a new concept, but it's becoming more accessible. DALL-E 2 is one of the first visual content creation platforms that uses AI to generate images based on user input. Microsoft announced Designer as part of their Microsoft 365 apps and Simplified has a text-to-image generator.
These tools are not perfect but they are good enough for people who need to quickly create visual content without having any design skills or time available for this task. Just take a look at the image which was generated in seconds from the text “AI machine writing a novel under a Tuscan sun”.
Benefits! Benefits! Benefits!
Using AI to create content is a great way to save time and resources. You can focus on what's most important, while the system takes care of the rest.
"In addition to improving grammar, spelling, and writing style, AI tools can also be useful for overcoming writer's block by providing ideas and suggestions on topics to write about," says Cynthia Levin, founder of the CMCollective in Southern California. "As a language model, I can generate text on a wide range of subjects, and users can use this text as a starting point for their own writing. Additionally, AI tools can assist in research and fact-checking, making it easier for users to gather information and sources for their content. Ultimately, the goal of AI tools like ChatGPT is to provide users with the resources they need to create high-quality content quickly and efficiently."
But there are other benefits as well:
AI-generated content is more engaging and relevant than traditional methods of writing--and it will continue to get better as technology advances.
Because algorithms learn from real data sources, they can produce higher quality content than humans could write by hand (or even with software), like code.

Great, but not perfect
You should be aware that these platforms are not perfect. Sometime they create content that is non-sensical. Other times, they miss the mark on subject or tone. Also, there are many overarching ethical concerns surrounding the use of AI, and their affect on society as a whole. And although they can be used for good, like anything, they also can be misused by bad actors.
But, I like to look at the bright side of things: automating mundane tasks allow me to concentrate on more strategic, high-value work. If I have a writer's block, or need to do research in a hurry, I am not going turn down help, even from my AI BFF.
After all, I am only human.
